Over 176 fresh cases of Lassa fever discovered in Edo since outbreak disease in the state.

Prof. Obehi Akoria, Edo Commissioner of Health, announced the announcement in Benin shortly after Governor Godwin Obaseki’s weekly State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting.

“Eleven local government areas in Edo State have been hit by Lassa fever, with Etsako West and Esan West accounting for 64 percent of the illnesses and 52 percent of the deaths,” he stated.

“We have confirmed 176 instances of Lassa fever in Edo State as of Tuesday, April 5, 2022, and we are determined to eradicate it, focusing on stopping the breed of rats that causes the sickness.”
