The Nigerian Army remains has reaffirmed its commitments in ensuring defeating the insurgents in the North East and another uprising in other parts of the country.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farooq Yahaya stated this In Ibadan at the inauguration of a combat swimming pool at 2 Division Nigerian Army, Ibadan.
The Chief of Army staff who spoke through the Chief of logistics, Major General Omotomilola Akintade said the army was involved in several operations to facilitate robust force projections in order to tackle insecurity bedeviling the nation.
Major General Yahaya stated further that the Nigerian Army would continue to prioritize its requirements and ensure that troops were well equipped to mitigate some of these vices through training and retraining of officers which included combat swimming for physical fitness.
Contributing, General Officer Commanding, GOC, 2 Division Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Gold Chibuisi said the construction of the swimming pool was aimed at enhancing the physical well-being of officers and soldiers to optimally perform their roles.
Major General Gold Chibuisi, therefore, urged the officers and men to make use of the pool and also maintain the facility to enable it to last longer.
