Bandits Kill Two Police Officers In Jigawa

No fewer than two senior police officers were killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits during an unsuccessful raid of the kidnappers’ enclave in Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

It was gathered that the incident, which happened on Friday, also left one other officer injured after the gun duel between the bandits and the officers.

The officers were on a mission to raid the kidnappers’ den after intelligence gathering at Kalgo, a Fulani settlement in Garki.The police spokesperson in the State, Audu Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, explained that in the process of raiding the den, two gallant Divisional Crime Officers (DCO) fell to the kidnappers’ bullet after they were ambushed by the gunmen.Jinjiri also said they recovered the remains of one of the gunmen following the gunfight after the criminals were overpowered by the police and fled.The police spokesperson confirmed that the latest development in Garki occurred in less than a week after another officer was killed by gunmen in Maigatari council area of the state.According to Jinjiri, the officer in Maigatari was killed while attempting to foil kidnapping in Bosuwa community where two residents were abducted.The police official added that the gunmen abducted Ali Dankoli, 70, and Zainab Isah, 25, in Bosuwa community and went away with them.Zainab Isah was later released on Friday after an undisclosed amount of ransom was paid.
